EMPLOYMENT QUESTIONS
Q. Can I do an on-the-job training before I graduate? In the Associate and Bachelor degree programs, students with a 3.0 grade point average may choose to do an internship/field experience course prior to graduation. The internship is a 3 credit hour course and required 135 hours of training at an outside communications facility. Internships are done during the latter part of a student's program of study.
Q. Can I work on campus? While NESCom® does not participate in a federal work-study program, some limited campus employment opportunities may be available to students. NESCom® often hires students for building maintenance or laboratory supervision positions. In addition, Husson College hires a number of NESCom® students to work in a variety of positions in food service, building maintenance and lifeguard positions.
Q. Do many students work part-time while attending NESCom? Many students work part-time jobs while attending college. It is always important to remember, however, that while you are a student, your first priority should be to your studies. This means that students need to be realistic about how many hours they will be working while in school.
Q. Do you help with finding jobs? NESCom's free Placement Services are available to every graduate by providing job leads and placement assistance. In addition, all students are required to take a Career Preparation course that covers all areas of career skills, cover letters, resumes, and interviewing. Many degree-seeking students also opt to do an internship opportunity that provides on-the-job training while still in school. In many instances, internships lead to job offers as well as providing professional networking opportunities. |
