A Cultural Learning Exchange Takes Place at NESCom

Husson University and the New England School of Communications (NESCom) look forward to hosting Alexey Mikhailov, Head of the Department of Public Relations for the Siberian State Aerospace University (SibSAU) in Krasnoyarsk, Russia.

The objective of the SibSAU department of public relations, similar to that of NESCom, is to provide quality education and training to students who want to specialize in the fields of communication. In what promises to be an exciting, learning exchange, Dr. Mikhailov, accompanied by his interpreter Tatyana Demenishina, a student of SibSAU, will be visiting NESCom classes throughout next week.

Alexey Mikhailov

On Wednesday, October 26, from 2:15 to 3:30pm Dr. Mikhailov will address the Husson University community in Kominsky Auditorium with a presentation entitled, “The Re-Birth of Commerce and Marketing in Russia.”  Imagine a culture and economy without advertising and marketing.  These were the realities of the Soviet Union in the early 1990’s.  Then, suddenly, the politics and economy changed and with it, competition and a free market arrive.  In his presentation, Dr. Mikhailov will describe these profound changes and how they have affected the lives of the Russian people.

While here, Dr. Mikhailov will be visiting classes at Husson and NESCom, local schools, media outlets and businesses in Maine.  The educational exchange could lead to future opportunities for global experiences for the students of both institutions.
